Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some answers to the most commonly asked questions I have received.  If the answers you are looking for aren't here, please contact me with your inquiry.

How do I know you are really legally eligible to perform weddings?

In the State of Minnesota any ordained minister can perform marriages once they register with any Minnesota County.  I am ordained through the Universal Life Church, and registered in Dakota County, MN . I can provide copies of these documents at your request.

The State of Wisconsin permits any ordained minister to perform marriages as long as they are permitted to perform marriages in their home state as well.

How long have you been performing weddings?

I performed my first wedding in March of 2012. My assistant joined me in Fall of 2014 to help manage the various bridal parties and documentation.

How many weddings have you done?

Currently, I have married over265 couples. Each ceremony unique in it's own way!

Do you only perform Religious weddings?

No.  I perform both religious and non-religious weddings. For religious but non-Christian clients, I work with you to ensure your customs are followed as closely as possible.

What happens if we cancel the wedding or have to postpone?

I know life happens. I require a nonrefundable deposit of 50% of your ceremony cost. Should you need to postpone things, I will hold your deposit and apply it to a future date for your ceremony. Should you need to cancel your wedding entirely, the deposit is retained.

Do you perform same sex marriages?

Yes I do! I feel my calling is to help unify and create families.  All types of couples are fully capable of creating a family within their union, regardless of gender, race or religion.

Are there any ceremonies that you won't perform?

While I believe that your wedding should be conducted according to your vision, there are some requests that I cannot accomodate.  I am not able to perform a ceremony that is blatantly blasphemous or demeaning to others, join a victim to their abuser, offenders serving time for certain criminal convictions or trying to circumvent the law.  I am more than happy to discuss any specific questions that may arise regarding this topic.
